Citizenship
Awareness raising
services on Citizenship are mostly embodied in our ESOL Classes. These services
seek to increase awareness on the following areas, among others
- Enhancing
awareness on the general way of life in the UK
- Increasing
familiarity with the complex NHS and social service system through IAG as
well as referrals
- Provision of
information to help the understanding of how the UK labour market operates;
- Increasing
awareness on relevance of paid or voluntary work, to gain the relevant work
experience;
- Increase
awareness on social and legal implications of substance misuse, alcohol and
anti-social behaviour;
- Provision of
training in spoken and written English as well as work-focussed English for
Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- Provision of
training in IT to develop skills relevant for employability and other
opportunities, as well as referrals to obtain UK equivalence of overseas
qualifications;
- Improving
self-employment opportunities by developing skills in business planning,
- Provision of
general assistance with C.V. composition, filling application forms,
interview techniques and potential sources of employment ;

Increase awareness on the expected roles and
responsibilities of individuals in the community in areas such as the
importance of volunteering, neighbourhood renewal, reducing waste,
increasing recycling, mitigation of the effects of climate change and global
warming
