Examples of Land Degradation – Arsi, Ethiopia |
AGROFOREP seeks to contribute towards:
-
Capacity building in the methods of
environmental protection and sustainable management and use of natural
resources
-
Increasing access to improved land
-
Introducing
biological means of rehabilitating degraded
soils and gullies, using multipurpose tree, shrub and grass species
-
Initiating small irrigation schemes
-
Improving home gardens through horizontal and
vertical intensification
-
Agroforestry Systems for intercropping of
food crops, vegetables, fruits, Enset, animals and nitrogen fixing species
(Multipurpose tree, shrub and grass species)
-
Feeding animals through fodder production
for cut and carry
-
Tree planting for the production of fuel
wood, construction materials, and mitigation of the effects of ecological
degradation, desertification, Climate Change and Global Warming.
